Single Note & Double Stop Scales Studies for Violin
小提琴單音與雙音音階練習
BY Dr. Ka Chun Leung
This comprehensive book provides a structured approach to advanced scale and arpeggio practice for violin students. As a sequel to Scale Studies for Violin, it is divided into two main sections with five subsections: single-note three-octave and four-octave scales and arpeggios, and double-stop scales in thirds, sixths, and octaves.
The single-note scales and arpeggios build upon the foundation of the first book. The arpeggio section is expanded to include fourth-finger extensions and dominant seventh arpeggios, covering every note in the scale for enhanced technical proficiency.
The second section introduces double-stop scales in thirds and sixths, organized in the circle of fifths to help students quickly master these intervals. The octave double-stop scales are arranged from the lowest G to the highest F-sharp, starting with the accessible G major and progressing in order of difficulty.
Carefully selected scales and fingerings guide students toward precise intonation and prepare them for advanced repertoire requiring higher registers and double stops. A companion demonstration video will soon be available to support learning. This book, along with the video, is provided free of charge to all students of Dr. Leung.
